What truly makes a free wedding free.
Not the venue and not the absence of rituals – but the permission to be entirely yourselves.
Many people first think of the venue when they hear “free wedding”: no registry office, no church, but a vineyard, a garden, a lake instead. That’s true – but it’s not the essential thing. The venue makes a wedding beautiful. Something else makes it free.
A wedding is free when nothing is prescribed that doesn’t suit you. When you decide what is said and what remains unsaid. When a ritual is included because it means something to you – and not because it’s “expected”.
A free wedding follows no template. It follows your story.
I have experienced ceremonies that shook with laughter, and ones in which everyone cried. Both were right, because they suited the two people. My job is not to hold a beautiful wedding. My job is to hold your wedding.
Freedom here doesn’t mean arbitrariness. It means: every decision is yours. And that is exactly what the guests feel – long before the first word is spoken.

A free wedding ceremony gives a couple the space to celebrate their story in their own way. It is not about following a fixed script. It is about choosing the words, rituals and people that feel honest and right for you.
